Poker glossary
Button position
BTN refers to the button seat, which has position on every postflop street in common no-limit hold’em formats.
Why it matters
Button ranges open wider, call more profitably, and apply more pressure because position improves equity realization.
Example
A suited king that folds under the gun may become a profitable open from the button when only the blinds remain.
Trainer cue
Before widening a range, confirm the hand gains enough from position to offset its weaker raw equity.
