Implied odds

Implied odds account for future bets that can be won after completing a strong hand.

Why it matters

They explain why some draws can call without enough direct pot odds, especially when stacks are deep.

Example

A small pair set-mining preflop needs enough remaining stack to win a large pot when it hits.

Trainer cue

Ask whether the opponent can pay off the improved hand and whether the draw makes a disguised nut hand.
